![]() Craig Lord wants to change the mindset of all elected officials to make them more accountable to the rate payer and voter. “With technology at our fingertips there is no reason why the community is not kept better informed about the status of projects, issues, and solutions. This is a part of being accountable.” he says.
Lord believes that accountability only happens during election cycles, and that’s not good enough any more. “Elected officials have a duty to perform to KPI’s and report regularly to their employers - the ratepayer. Right now it’s only done by official PR spin, or the occasional musings on social media. Councillors, Local Boards, and the Mayor need to be much better at this. While many might say it’s not important, I fully disagree with that. It is of the utmost importance.” A consistent complaint that Lord receives via email or message is that people try to find out what is happening with different projects or issues raised to LB or Councillors and they don’t get timely responses. “I don’t care if only one person sees the report - it still has to be done.
